Well, it’s finally here, with a slightly different name, the Kindle Fire HD 7”.

Dubbed as the ‘world’s most-advanced 7” tablet’, the 7 inch Kindle Fire HD tablet boasts a variety of features including: HD display, Dolby audio, increased power processing, a front-facing camera and 16 GB of storage. You get that all for just $199, the same price as the Google Nexus 7. So, which is the better choice for you? Well, we don’t fully know yet, but we can tell you how Amazon improved upon the previous Kindle Fire tablet.

HD Display

The 7” Kindle Fire HD display offers 1280×800 resolution, Amazon’s best picture ever. On top of that, they give the user custom features that reduce glare and improve color saturation at any viewing angle. They’ve improved the usual glare you get from glass screens by laminating the touch sensor and the LCD together into a single layer of glass. In fact, Amazon claims it reduces glare 25% more than the latest generation iPad. It also uses Gorilla Glass to provide extra durability.

High Quality Wi-Fi – 40% Faster Downloads and High-Speed Streaming

So the Kindle Fire HD 7” can display pixel-perfect images in high resolution. Great. But can it keep up with streaming HD content? After all, we cant wait for buffering, slow downloads or lost connections. Many Wi-Fi enabled devices use a crowded 2.5GHz frequency, the Kindle Fire HD 7” uses dual-band Wi-Fi. What’s dual band Wi-Fi? It means the Kindle Fire HD can automatically switch between the 2.4 GHz network and the newer, less crowded 5 GHz network. Plus, it includes dual antennas and Multiple In/Multiple Out (MIMO) to allow for a higher bandwidth with longer range. In comparison to the latest generation iPad, it has a 40% faster throughput.

More Storage

If you have an HD tablet, you want HD content. 8 GB of on-device storage isn’t enough. The 7” Kindle Fire HD is available with 16 GB or 32 GB of on-device storage. In addition to the free storage provided in Amazon Cloud, this large on-device storage capacity is icing on the cake. Not to mention, Amazon’s digital content is automatically backed up for free in the Amazon Cloud’s Archive, where it’s available anytime.

Dual Stereo Speakers – Dolby Audio

You shouldn’t need to wear headphones to get excellent sound from a tablet. The Kindle Fire HD 7” offers dual Dolby speakers resulting in a clearer, crisper and balanced sound experience.

Battery Life

With all that power, you wouldn’t expect the 7 inch Kindle Fire HD to offer 11 hours of play time, but it does, meaning you won’t have to interrupt your favorite movie or book to find a power outlet.

Thinner and Lighter

Slightly lighter and thinner than the original Kind Fire, the Kindle Fire HD 7” is extremely light and thin, small enough to take everywhere and hold comfortably in one hand.
